Solve addition problems using place value (B)
Throughout this unit students will break a whole number using place value to solve a series of addition equations with the assistance of a number line to begin with. They will then apply the same strategy to solve equations without the assistance of a number line. Students will then need to apply their understanding of the place value strategy in order to determine whether it can be used to solve an equation. If the student uses the strategy, they will also need to justify and explain their use!
