Compare the size of fractions

Can your students identify the larger fraction from a choice of two? In the first three tasks in this unit, students shade a shape to help them compare the size of two fractions before completing the number sentence with a <, >, or =. An extension on this task is one in which students need to draw their own diagrams to prove their answers. A couple of word problems are also included in this unit.
