Use length measurements
How well can your students identify the appropriate unit of length to use in a given situation? This unit has a variety of tasks to reinforce this skill. The first activity asks students to decide on the best unit of length for measuring New Zealand, a rugby field, the length of someone's arm etc. Activity 2 requires students to complete a table that identifies at least three things that can be measured by mm, cm and km. The final activity asks students to estimate the length of a list of objects using two appropriate units, then measure to record the actual measurement.
