This unit consists of a narrative about a Christmas tree decoration and associated activities that focus on understanding the difference between literal and figurative language. In the first task students need to replace the figurative words or phrases in the given sentences with something more literal that makes the meaning clearer. Task 2 requires students match up the figurative word on one side with the literal meaning on the other.
